Massimiliano Allegri has played down speculation that his job is at risk if AC Milan fails to retain the title. Milan suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat to Fiorentina on Saturday, allowing Juventus to move one point clear at the top of the table after they won Palermo 2-0.
Milan president Silvio Berlusconi had indicated he was not entirely happy with the team’s performances against Barcelona in the Champions League, and reports in newspapers including La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest Allegri could lose his job unless the Rossoneri win the Scudetto.
However, Allegri said “I don’t feel that my job is at risk. The club will make their evaluations at the end of the season.”
Allegri also believes there has been a clamour for Milan to slip up but says his players have the mentality required to bounce back. “I realised that many, let’s say the vast majority, couldn’t wait for Milan to lose and we did. Now we will move forward.
