ACN Berates Wamakko Over N600m Housing

Sokoto State Chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) yesterday expressed dismay over the recent acquisition of N600 million housing by the Sokoto State government, describing the decision as a clear indication of the fact thatv the government is self-centred are cared less about the poor masses.

The state party chairman, Alhaji Sidi Aliyu, made this comment in a chat to newsmen yesterday, while reacting to the recent decision of the councils to procure a piece of duplex each at the sum of N600 million.

The state executive council, after last week’s meeting, had resolved to procure the house next to the state’s Government’ House at the cost of over N600 million.

But the ACN chairman has called on the state government to reverse the action and quickly engage in projects that have direct bearing on the people and which would alleviate their suffering rather devoting such huge funds to such frivolous purposes.

Alhaji Sidi Aliyu remarked that the state was rated the worst in terms of poverty, and said that this should have challenged the state government into initiating programmes to exit such ignominious ranking.

“We must stand for the progress of our dear state, especially that will create job opportunities to our teeming youth,” he said.

He urged them to look for a way to empower the women and teeming youths to address the critical condition of their suffering rather than engaging on procuring assets that had no impact on their living standard.
