The policeman, who shot a pregnant woman Safiya and her husband, Mohammed Kabir, last week when they visited Tunga area of Minna, has been dismissed from service.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the dismissal of the policeman was a result of an orderly room trial which found him guilty of use of fire arms without authorisation.
The? couple who were in Minna for a visit were driving in an ash coloured Peugeot 406,? were ordered to stop by the policeman who allegedly shot at their car before they could carry out the order injuring the woman who is still in the hospital.
The policeman, who was immediately disarmed by his superior following the incident, was later arraigned for orderly room trial where he was found guilty of opening fire without authorization.
Meanwhile the Niger State commissioner of police, Mrs Desire Nsirim, cautioned officers and men of the command over indiscriminate use of firearm and said that it was unacceptable for men of the command to use firearm on members of the public at the slightest provocation.
She said that she would not take kindly to any act of gross indiscipline by the officers and men of the command as any policeman who uses arms unlawfully would be made to face the law.
