The Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) has lamented the tragedies that occurred during the Easter celebrations in three States of the region that claimed 36 lives in Kaduna and 22 in Makurdi. The Governors expressed their regret at the suicide bomb attack in Kaduna and the collapse of church building on worshippers during Easter vigil Mass in Makurdi.
?The Chairman of the forum who is also the Governor of Niger State, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu expressed shock at the death of Christian worshippers as a result of the collapse of the retreat camp at the Deeper Life Bible Church, Eyenkorin in Kwara State.
?In the message contained in separate condolence letters to the Governors of Kaduna, Benue and Kwara States, the chairman on behalf of the Forum identified with the Governors and peoples of the affected States in their moment of grief.
?Aliyu said that the forum was pained that the latest bomb blast in Kaduna occurred at a time when both Federal and State governments were putting every measure in place to end the menace of insecurity in the country
?The forum commiserated with the families of those killed in the tragedies and assured them that government was doing everything to ensure that peace returned to the region and Nigeria at large.
While reiterating the commitment of the forum to get to the root of the ugly development and reposition the North for greatness, Governor Aliyu urged Governors of the affected states to take heart and pray that such disasters never happen anywhere again.
?Aliyu said that the Governors in the region remained firm, focused and resolute and would not be deterred by terrorist activities, just as he called on all security agencies to double their efforts in the discharge of their responsibility of protecting lives and property of citizens.
