President Goodluck Jonathan has described the death of First Republic Senator and Minister of Health, Dr. Moses Majekodunmi, as a great loss to the? nation.
In a statement by Dr Reuben Abati, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Jonathan paid tribute to Majekodunmi’s uncommon courage.
The President also praised the deceased's?willingness to answer the call to national service even at a period of political uncertainty.
The President, according to the statement,? said that?Majekodunmi's immense patriotism, dedication to work, commitment to national service and excellence would? be missed by his family, friends, associates and the whole country.
He said that? Majekodunmi distinguished himself as a federal minister and Administrator of the? old Western Region, as well as?one of the pioneers of high quality private health care services in Nigeria.
Jonathan?extended?his condolences to members of the Majekodunmi's family.
The President urged them to take solace in the fact?that the deceased lived to a grand old age and had bequeathed worthy legacies to his offspring and the nation.
He prayed that Almighty God would grant the soul of the elder statesman peaceful rest.
Majekodunmi, the founder of Saint Nicholas Hospital Lagos, 44 years ago,?died in Lagos at the age of 97.
He was one-time Minister of Health and?Sole Administrator of the defunct Western Region in the First Republic.(NAN)
