Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam last night received the “Nigeria Socio-Economic Award” in the United States in recognition of his giant strides in agriculture, infrastructure, health and education by the Africa Leadership Magazine, published in partnership with the African Business Round Table, the private sector wing of the African Union(AU).
Also, while his counterpart from Kwara State, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed was honoured for his commitment to the development of agriculture in his state, the Central Bank Governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was honoured as the magazine’s “Man of the Year” in recognition of his leadership of the CBN? in the reform, growth and stabilization of the Nigerian banking and financial system.
Speaking through the Secretary to State Government, Dr Salifu, after receiving the award of excellence, Suswam said Nigeria had a lot to give to the world,? adding that progress was being made in spite of the security challenges in the country to make the country suitable for investment.
“In Benue State, we have through the provision of critical infrastructure, created the enabling environment for economic activities to thrive. I want to invite you all to take advantage of the many opportunities we have in agriculture, solid minerals and other sectors to invest in our state and our country,” he stated.
In his own speech, the Nigerian Ambassador to the US, Prof Adebowale Adefuye, urged international investors to emphasize the positive side of Nigeria in making their investment decisions.
Adefuye further said the honourees at the occasion were a reflection of the quality leadership Nigeria has at different levels in both the private and public sectors of the economy.
