Super Falcons coach, Kadiri Ikhana will consider only six overseas players for an African Women’s Championship qualifier against Zimbabwe.
Last week, Ikhana invited 53 players for first phase of a training camp in Abuja, which ends on April 24.
The former Kwara United, Kano Pillars handler stated that he has finalised on the foreign-based stars he will invite to the Falcons.
“The foreign-based professionals have been taken care of. We have about six of them that we would invite but their form would determine who we will pick,” Ikhana said.
“They would join us in the second phase of the camping but they have to prove themselves to make the team.”
In the meantime, the Nigeria Football Federation will present Ikhana as new Falcons coach tomorrow.
Ikhana, a one-time CAF Africa Coach of the Year, was appointed last month.
Although the NFF are yet to make public the details of Ikhana’s contract, general secretary Musa Amadu said, “Ikhana would be officially unveiled tomorrow at the secretariat. On that day you would get to find out details of his contract.”
The former Enyimba, Kano Pillars and Kwara United coach is expected to qualify the country for the AWC and improve on the quarterfinal outing at the 1999 World Cup.
