To Honourable Ifedayo Abegunde, the Labour party in Ondo state is fast becoming history, even as the race for the State House, Alagbaka hots up. The House of Representatives member made this declaration while throwing his name in the ever increasing number of the aspirants for the Ondo state top job.
Abegunde, popularly known as Abena to his supporters, said he added his name to the list of the Action Congress of Nigerian (ACN) gubernatorial candidates because he wants to serve and bring accountability to governance in the state. While declaring his ambitions in Akure, witnessed by Olubunmi Omoogun, he said one of his priorities will be to bring development to the the state.
He wondered why people are waiting for his party, the ACN, to disintegrate due to the list of guber aspirants, saying everyone vying for the party’s ticket know it will go to just one person.
“The Labour party is looking for a loophole. They think we will disintegrate. I have got news for you – we are strong and will remain strong. Our great party will be the next ruling party in the state”, said the architect, stating that the broom revolution is engulfing the state like wide fire.
On security in the state, he promised to equip the police by buying helicopters to combat crime. He enjoined the citizens of the state to come out en masse and vote in the ACN during the October elections.
