The Minister of? Labour and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu, says the Federal Government will soon revive moribund factories in the country.
This was contained in a statement signed by Mr Samuel Olowookere, the ministry’s? Assistant Director (Press) made available in Abuja on Tuesday.
The statement said the minister made the statement when the new executive members of the National Union of Textile Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria (NUTGTWN), led by its President, Mr Oladele Hunsu and the Secretary General, Mr Isa Aremu, visited him.
It quoted Wogu as congratulating the new executive members on the conduct of a peaceful election and urged them to discharge their duties in line with the labour laws.
He said “the efforts of President Goodluck Jonathan on the revival of the Textile and Garment Industry is heart-warming, not only to us in government, but to all Nigerians who have keyed into the Transformation Agenda of Mr President.
“Be assured that the Federal Government will equally encourage other moribund factories to come onstream''.
Earlier,? the president of NUTGTWN had reiterated the union's appreciation to President Jonathan on his efforts at ensuring that the largest factory in Africa was back on stream.
He, however, appealed to the government to revive other moribund industries and establish more to provide employment to the nation’s jobless youths. (NAN)
