Gov. Jonah Jang of Plateau has carried out a minor cabinet reshuffle with Alhaji Abdulhammed Gamzaki, the former Commissioner for Special Duties,? assigned to the Ministry of Transport.
The Commissioner for Information, Mr Abraham Yiljap, who announced the change, said that the Ministry of Transport was created out of the former Ministry of Works and Transport.
“There is no longer Ministry of Special Duties except if the governor sees any need for it in the future,'' he said.
Meanwhile, Jang has proceeded on a one-week leave “to enable him to take some rest”.
According to Yiljap, the leave will enable the governor to “refresh the mind, body and prepare for more productivity and greater challenges of developing a new Plateau.
Yiljapadded that the Deputy Governor, Mr Ignatius Longjan, would take charge during the governor’s absence.
The commissioner announced that government was expanding the scope of work at Plateau Publishing Corporation and expanding Nigeria Standard newspaper to cover most northern states.
The commissioner revealed that new machines for a commercial printing press were being acquired for the company to reposition it to generate more revenue.
According to him, government has also approved the reclamation of the gully erosion by the Nigeria Standard, Plateau Radio Television Corporation and the police barracks at the cost of N40.276 million.?
