The governorship candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, General Charles Airhiavbere (retd) has again recorded? massive support as 9,956 residents of Oredo Local Government Area volunteered to take his campaign to the streets and homes in the area.
This came on the heels of a similar event last week at Orhionmwon Local Government Area where 6,000 volunteers signed up to spread the good tidings of Airhiavbere’s governorship aspiration.
The volunteers, who stormed the Oba Akenzua Cultural Centre, Benin, came from the 12 wards of Oredo Local Government.
Addressing an unprecedented crowd, the state party chairman, Chief Dan Orbih said: “This is the first of its kind in the politics of Edo State to see young men and women coming out in their thousands without any particular party affiliation to declare their support for a candidate because he is a candidate they can trust.
“It is the candidate they believe that, if elected, will take this state to greater heights. It is a great coincidence that today is exactly 90 days to the election and, instead of the official flag off campaign, we are here to witness thousands of enthusiastic registered voters in Edo State who have come out in large numbers to declare their support for General Charles Airhiavbere.”
