In continuation of his visit to districts under his emirate, the Emir of Argungu Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammad Mera has called for more support in the fight against polio and other child killers diseases.
The Emir, who made the call while addressing the people of Sauwa district, reiterated government’s commitment to the fight against polio and other vaccine preventable diseases.
He said the state government was doing everything possible to meet the 2012 deadline in the fight against polio, pointing out that Argungu Local Government Area had not recorded any new case of the wild polio virus in last three years and commended the government, international donor agencies and the public for their support in achieving the feat.
The emirate head also enjoined the people to ensure good hygiene within their environment and report any sign of polio to the nearest health centre for medical attention.
In his address, the district head of Sauwa, Alhaji Mohammad Tajuddeen, commended the Emir for the visit and pledges their support and loyalty to the State government.
