The residents of Rigasa community in Kaduna metropolis have denied allegations that they are harbouring members of the Boko Haram sect.
Rigasa community had in recent times become a hot-bed of terrorist acts as many people, especially officers of the Nigeria Police have been killed by unknown gunmen in the area.
The community at a news conference organised under the aegis of Inuwar Jama’ar Rigasa, declared that they are law abiding citizens, and have always been, and will always be and totally against all forms of violence.
The leader of the group, Mallam Yusuf Arrigasiyyu said,“as you are aware that of recent, Rigasa was under attack by unknown gunmen leading to the loss of lives ofmostly men of the Nigeria Police Force residing in Rigasa, including a lecturer from the famous Kaduna Polytechnic and a student.
“We wish to use this opportunity to extend our condolence on behalf of our people to the relatives and friends of the bereaved families”, said Arrigasiyyu.
He stressed that Rigasa people are known to be peace-loving despite the poor infrastructural development in the area.
“We have been contributing positively to the development of the state and Nigeria at large. Therefore, we do not deserve to be blackmailed by a media organisation supposed to be a professional and reputable media outfit of being a strong hold of Boko Haram”, he added.
Arrigassiyyu further noted that, “in the history of bomb blast in Nigeria, no single bomb ever detonated or exploded in our peace-loving town Rigasa, and by Allah’s protection, we will never witness any, we therefore call on Sahara Reporters and whoever is feeding them with those blasphemous reports to, with urgency, withdraw such defamatory report or face legal action by the collective people of Rigasa”.
