The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), has said that it will resist any attempt to kill the report submitted by the Farouk Lawan Committee on Fuel Subsidy Fund.
Chairman of TUC in Rivers State, Comrade Hyginus Chika Onuegbu, who disclosed this in a chat with LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt, yesterday, said that the union was aware of attempts by some highly placed Nigerians to kill the report.
Onuegbu said, “We, however, understand that some highly placed Nigerians are scheming to kill the report. Consequently, we call on all Nigerians to rise up and protest against the massive corruption in Nigeria, resist attempt to kill the report as well as ensure that all those found wanting are prosecuted and punished severely.
“As we have been saying before now, the truth is that until we stamp-out corruption in our daily and national lives, we will not be able to fight poverty, nor provide jobs for our teeming youths.”
He, however, expressed regrets that the Federal Government had refused to take any action against the former Head of Service, Professor Oladapo Afolabi despite the discovery of an unprecedented looting of pension funds under his watch.
The TUC boss said; “We also note with dismay that the Federal Government has refused to take any action against the former Head of Service of the Federation despite the discovery of another unprecedented looting of pension funds under his watch.”
He commended the Lawan committee for exposing the massive and unprecedented looting of the national treasury through the fuel subsidy fund.
