The Joint patrol team of policemen and armed robbers hunter Alhaji Ali Kwara, yesterday killed four suspected members of an armed robbery gang in Kano, recovering two hundred and sixty three? live ammunitions from them.
According to the Police spokesman in Kano state, ASP Musa Magaji Majiya the suspected armed robbers were trailed along Ajingi to Wudil road, as four AK -47 riffle,? multipurpose machine gun ammunition (MMG) were recovered from them.
Majiya said? a police patrol team reportedly moved to the spot and confronted the robbers shortly after getting? wind of the robbery attack.
He said the operation was carried out by policemen from the force headquarters, along with Alhaji Ali Kwara, adding that the operation was arranged following a tip off by members of public who informed the security operatives about the nefarious men.
An eyewitness told reporters that the police opened fire on the armed robbers, leading to an exchange of gunfire and in the ensuing battle four suspects were gunned downed.
Meanwhile, a soldier whose identity is being withheld by the military was gun down on Saturday at Sharada industrial estate in the outskirt of Kano, where unknown gunmen killed a civilian on Friday.???
Spokesman of the joint military task force (JTF) Lieutenant Ikedichi Iweoha confirmed the incident but said the victim was not on a military assignment when he was attacked and killed.
