The Chairman of the Kwara chapter of ALGON, Dr Adebayo Ishola, says the call for the scrapping of local government administration in Nigeria is “a myopic view.’’
Ishola, who is also the chairman of Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara, said people should rather call for effective administration in the local councils.
He told newsmen in Ilorin on Tuesday that there was need to fine tune the local government administration in Nigeria to enhance its efficiency and development.
The chairman suggested that the State Governments should assist the councils to collect rates because it was becoming increasingly difficult for councils' staff to collect levy for the councils.
Ishola attributed the difficulty to lack of mechanism by the local government to pursue its mandate. (NAN)
