An eye witness of the bomb blast that rocked a football viewing centre at Tudun Wada area of Jos, Talbat Abdulrasheed, has disclosed that the perpetrators of the blast drove in a white Mercedes Benz to commit the act.
Abdulrasheed further told LEADERSHIP that she was inside the commercial viewing centre to watch the match between Chelsea and Barcelona, and had barely steeped out when the incident occurred.
“I sat down to watch match between Chelsea and Barcelona and later went outside and sat down at the back of the viewing centre, immediately I saw a white Mercedes Benz car making a U-turn beside me. In fact, the car almost brushed my leg before I jumped outside.”
According to her, one of the occupants of the car, who was wearing a Chelsea shirt, came out of the car and headed straight to the entrance of the viewing centre with a black polythene bag in his hand.
She added that when she saw him, she shouted and immediately, he dropped the bag and it exploded.
The smoke of the explosion, she explained enveloped her and she became unconscious until people around tried to revive her.
The witness said she again saw the vehicle moving towards the hill station hotel and she shouted amidst the initial confusion that trailed the earlier blast. Instantly, people attacked the car breaking its windscreen but the two occupants of the Mercedes escaped.
Abdulrasheed further stated that the seven people sustained various degrees of injuries and were taken to a nearby clinic for treatment.
An anonymous source however said one person who sustained injury in the stomach died yesterday morning.
The source said that exactly 9pm as people gathered in a commercial viewing centre watching champions league, one woman from the viewing centre came outside to ease herself and saw two people with a car that made U turn, while one of the occupants of the car came out with a bag and went straight to the entrance of the viewing centre, immediately, the woman saw him, she shouted and the carrier of the explosion dropped the bag and it exploded.
According to him, the explosion injured the carrier while the second person inside the car rushed to the scene in a cheetah-like speed and whisked him into the car and zoomed off the scene with the vehicle.
