Kogi State Government has expressed its readiness to assist the State university, Anyigba, through timely release of funds to ensure the early take off of its Faculty of Medicine.
The State Governor, Capt Idris Wada, who made the pledge while assessing the extent of work at the clinical laboratory site of the proposed faculty, noted that adequate provision would be made to ensure early commencement of the programme.
Represented by his deputy, Arc Yomi Awoniyi, the governor said on completion, the faculty would greatly assist in producing and training medical personnel to make up for the shortfall? in the nation’s health sector.
He commended the immediate past governor of the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, for his contributions towards the rapid transformation of the school, thereby placing the institution among the fastest growing state universities in the country.
The present Wada, Arc. Awoniyi pointed out, accorded the health sector top priority, as well as the well being of the people and stressed that the university would be assisted to enable it realise its lofty goals.
The vice chancellor of the institution, Prof. Hassan Isah, had earlier in his remark, disclosed that the clinical laboratory of the proposed faculty of medicine which consists of four blocks and an anatomy building was presently at an advanced stage of completion.
He, therefore, solicited the support of the state government to ensure the realisation of the renewed mission of the university to be a leading centre of academic excellence in the country.
