The inspector General of Police IGP Mohammed Abubakar has called on Nigerians to fortify their homes and office premises in order to help the police check the occurrence of suicide bombings in the country.
The police boss, who made this request at the premises of the THISDAY Newspaper,? shortly after the suspected suicide bombing attack which rocked the Utako Abuja premises of the newspaper, yesterday.
The IG who was represented by the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of operations, DIG Dauda Fakai confirmed that the incident must have been carried out by a suicide bomber said that the conclusion of the investigation would unravel who carried out the attack. The IG also confirmed that the police received report of the attacks in some media offices in Kaduna.
“Well the incident happened and we just got the information at about 11am that there was attack here which you can see and from all indication was carried out by a suicide bomber.
The IG who stressed the need for media houses and other organizations to intensify security in their homes and business premises noted that the police could not successfully combat criminals without the collaboration of the citizens.
