Google Nigeria on Friday said it had assisted many Small and Medium Enterprises???? (SMEs) in Nigeria to create their individual Website.
Mrs Juliet Ehimuan, the Country Manager of the company, disclosed this in Lagos at the closing ceremony of the “Get Nigerian Businesses Online (GNB0) Web Fair 2012” .
The GNBO was launched by the Google in September 2011.
According to her, the goal of the program is to make it easier for Nigerian entrepreneurs to grow their businesses by taking advantage of web resources.
“Over 20,000 sites have been created since the GNBO was launched, showing that SMEs in Nigeria are well aware of the advantages of Internet.
“The internet presents immense opportunities for the growth and expansion of small businesses in Nigeria.
“Google’s GNBO Web Fair initiative is an avenue for SMEs to build and launch their own Website and boost business turnover and profiles,’’ she said.
Ehimuan said that Google would continue to encourage SMEs to launch their businesses on the Internet.
“My vision is to create enough awareness to help individuals and businesses organisation to take advantage of the GNBO initiative,’’ she said.
The manager said that the initiative was open to all SMEs who wanted to gain access into the Internet.
