The Deputy Commnader? of Special Task Force, ACP? Umar Miringa gave this charge in Jos while? addressing?? stakeholders? on the Plateau? crisis at a three- day? peace summit organized? by? Joint? Peace? Ambassadors? towards? uniting?? Christian and Muslim Youths? in Jos, the Plateau? state? capital.
According? to him, keeping? the peace? in Jos and other? troubled parts of the state? is a joint? responsibility? between? the people and men? of the? special? task force for lasting peace.
ACP Miringa added? that? he was? happy over? the turnout? of both? Christian and Muslim youths? and important religious? leaders? at the summit, stressing?? that?? the special task force is? divided? into? several? sectors? in Jos? for the purpose? of? proper? coodination? of internal peace? operation in Jos.
He warned? residents? of Jos especially Youths? of the? two main religious faiths,? Christianity and Islam, not to take laws into their? hands each time there? is security? breach in any part of Jos, the Plateau state capital.
He? cited? the recent? experiences? the? men of the? Special? military task? force? and? their officers went through? in the hands? of restive youths , when? two? suicide? bombers struck at? COCIN church Headquarters and Saint Finbars? Catholic church? in Jos,? wondering why? these? youths? should form illegal? roads? blocks? and burnfires on the? road all in a bid? to stop the? STF security men from getting? to the spots of the attacks.
Earlier the? convener? of the Summit, Rev David King Bamidele in his remark,? had commended? the commandant? and other senior? officials? for taking? a bold step in partnering?? with? Joint Ambassadors? of Christian? and Muslim Forum? in a bid? to return lasting? peace to Jos and other parts of Plateau? state, stressing that? what is needed? at the moment in the state? is dialogue among the warring groups to reach? amicable? resolution? of their differences.
