The Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) on Wednesday called on the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to set up a One-Stop-Shop (OSS) for the industry.
Mr Gbenga Adebayo, the ALTON Chairman, made the call at a press briefing in Lagos on service disruptions caused by the interference of some agencies on telecommunications installations.
Adebayo said the OSS would coordinate and harmonise the work of relevant ministries, departments and parastatal agencies on erection of base transceiver stations.
He said that the system would serve the purpose of a single permitting point for telecommunications site activities.
“The singular point should incorporate a transparent, abbreviated and clearly defined permitting process which sets a specific timeline for initiation and conclusion of the process.
“It should include the elimination of discretionary powers of MDAs in granting approvals and none discriminatory standards that will be identical for all applicants,” Adebayo said.??
He assured stakeholders of uninterrupted services and urged the security agencies to?? ensure safety of the telecommunications facilities.
