The Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati Wal-Jihad, popularly called Boko Haram, yesterday named more media houses and their employees as targets of their attack.
?In an 18-minute-long Youtube video, the group threatened to attack more media houses, naming Voice of America (Hausa), Radio France (Hausa), Daily Trust, Guardian Newspapers. The group also gave reasons why they bombed Thisday office in Abuja and other media houses last Thursday.
In the released video, the group gave some of the of the reasons why we decided to attack some media Houses.
?For Thisday, the group said the paper was used in dishonouring Prophet Mohammad (SAW) during a beauty pageant in Kaduna in November 2002, an offence for which it said, there is no forgiveness.
? “No one has the power to forgive this type of offence, and the judgement is for such persons to be killed,” the sect declared.
?? The video also shows the radical group filming the bomb attack on the ThisDay in Abuja.
??? However, the Inspector- General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, has ordered commissinoers of police in all states to intensify security in all media houses nationwide.?
?? Meanwhile, Newspaper Prioprietors’ Association of Nigeria NPAN) has sum- moned an emergency meeting of members to deliberate on the matter.
