The Nasarawa State Governor, Alhaji? Tanko Almakura, has lamented the absence of good rural roads in the state and restated his government’s commitment to turn around the fortunes of the rural dwellers.
Almakura who spoke in Lafia, yesterday, at the inauguration of caterpillars and other construction equipments bought by his administration said his government would not pay lip service to the major challenges facing the rural communities especially as agricultural output which was the mainstay of the state’s economy comes from the rural areas.
The Governor said, “we are going to take a full stock of all projects that have been awarded and those either completed, uncompleted or abandoned,” adding that “my administration will not leave any stone unturned and would deal with any body found guilty of siphoning government funds”.
The governor said the construction of rural roads would commence simultaneously across the three senatorial zones of the state with Agyaragu-Kwara road in Nasarawa south, Dari-Amba-Basa road in Kokona in Nasarawa West and Wamba-Farin Ruwa-Mama road in Wamba in Nasarawa North senatorial zone.
While stating that he procured the trucks to ensure? continuity in the construction and expansion of rural roads, the governor called on the people to give him the needed support and cooperation so that in no distant future Nasarawa State would be at par with its peers in the country.?
Among the equipments commissioned were trucks, pay loaders, a crane, caterpillars, and sundry other construction machineries.
