The national publicity secretary of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ((ACN), Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has again challenged the federal government on its seeming inability to effectively address the problem of insecurity in the country.
Alhaji Mohammed spoke in Ibadan on Friday after the Board of management of Afro media led by its group?? managing director, Mr. Akin Ire Olapade donated a truck of rice and other relief materials to the victims of last year August flood disaster in the state capital.
The ACN? chieftain said; “What people? are saying is that they are not happy about the problems of insecurity? and corruption in the country. They are saying that it appears that Mr. President lacks the capacity to handle the situation. We in the opposition are not surprised considering how they got into power”.
Alhaji Mohammed who is also a member of Board of Directors of Afro media,? pointed out that until the federal government? addressed the root cause of the insurgency, which was identified as bad governance and injustice, it would be difficult to? resolve the problems facing the country.
He reiterated his earlier call for dialogue stressing that the problem of Boko Haram started in a small way by the aggrieved few people in the north who were protesting against what they regarded as marginalisation.
“We in the ACN have advised the federal government severally on this? Boko Haram insurgency.? In other countries, even after? war, people sit down and resolve their conflicts. We can as well sit down at a round table conferences to iron out perceived differences with all stakeholders like traditional rulers,? political leaders as well as other aggrieved people”, he explained.
Mohammed declared that members of the sect were non moslems and should never be regarded as such because their conduct were un-islamic, adding that their problem? could be ironed out through dialogue.
Meanwhile, the national executive of Conference of Political Parties (CNPP), led by its secretary general, Mr. Willy Ezegwu, has commended Governor Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi for making his government an all inclusive administration.
Speaking during a courtesy call on the governor, Ezegwu said that he was impressed by the achievements of the governor within the short period of his administration adding that the governor should oblige the CNPP a bus for the smooth running of its activities.
The governor thanked the politicians in CNPP for their visit adding that his party, ACN was also a member of the group and would look into their request.
