A 21-year-old restaurant attendant charged with alleged murder of a customer over N10 change was ordered remanded in prison custody pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The accused, Bright Effiong, who was first arraigned before a Yaba Magistrates’ Court on April 9, was employed in a restaurant at 20, Salami Bashorun St., Ijeshatedo, Lagos.
The prosecutor, Insp. Rita Momoh, had told the court that the deceased,Chibuike Onyekachi , 24, died on Feb. 23 in a fight with Effiong over payment.
She said that after eating, the deceased was billed N100 but he insisted that his bill was N90 and demanded for N10 change out of the N100 he paid to Effiong.
Momoh said that the argument led to a fight between the accused and Onyekachi during which the deceased collapsed and died on the way to the hospital.
Magistrate M.O. Tanimola adjourned the case to June 13.
