The?National Chairman of Labour Party, Mr Dan Nwanyanwu, said on Friday that?the party was committed to deepening?its hold on ethos of democracy through the conduct of free and fair congresses.
Nwanyanwu?made this known in Abuja??in?an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria. ( NAN)?
He said?the party had conducted free and fair congresses in Anambra,?and?Edo as part of the initiatives to promote internal democracy in the party and to guard against internal misunderstanding.
According to him,?congresses will soon ?be conducted in?Ebonyi and Abia in order to elect the officers who will?run the affairs of the party and prepare it for subsequent elections.
“The party will not hesitate to conduct its?congresses in other states whenever they are?due for it.''?
The chairman said?the?party's congresses had been peaceful and well organised because its?members were disciplined and?understood the party's ideology.
Nwanyanwu?said?the party had started its preparation toward 2015 elections through the conduct of free and fair congresses, adding that?that would?work with?other progressive?parties?that ?shared its?vision?and mission.(NAN)
