Senate President David Mark has called on?members of the Boko Haram Sect to accept Federal Government’s proposal for dialogue.
A statement issued by?his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan,?said?Mark made the call at the Stakeholders' Broadcast?Conference organised by the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) in Lagos on Friday.
The statement which was made available to?the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)?in Abuja, advised?members, sponsors and sympathisers of the?sect to embrace the dialogue option. ?
“There is no government that will fold its?arms and watch innocent citizens being murdered in schools, markets, churches and?mosques. This carnage has to stop.
?“The members of the sect must be courageous enough to come out and state their grievances. They should be bold and state their anger so that the nation can find solution to those grievances.
?“I urge members of the Boko Haram, their representatives, sponsors or sympathisers to key into this dialogue.’’
It?challenged the broadcasters to fashion out programmes that would assist the Federal Government in stemming the tides of terrorism and other vices plaguing the country.
The statement said that the Senate President gave the assurance?that the National Assembly would continue to create a legislative environment that would facilitate the process of digitisation by 2015.(NAN)
