Malam Abubakar Umar, former Public Relations Officer of the Sokoto Sultanate Council, has commended the Federal Government's decision to dialogue with members of Boko Haram towards securing lasting? peace in the country.
Umar told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that the decision indicated the willingness of the government to listen to complaints from citizens.
He said government's decision was being regarded as a guarantee of the right of members of the sect to be heard as enshrined in the Constitution.
Umar also applauded the sect for its readiness to dialogue with the government
He called on both sides to show commitment and sincerity in resolving the problem in the interest of Nigerians.
The former spokesman also called on Nigerians to be vigilant in the task of building a prosperous nation where rights, democratic culture and religions would be respected.
