Two bank security guards, Kareem Kazeem (36) and Oloruntola Olakunle (33), on Tuesday appeared before an Igbosere Magistrates' Court in Lagos charged with the theft of a transformer, valued at N5 million.
Kazeem, a resident of No. 13, Okeowe St., Bariga, and Olakunle, who leaves at No. 12, Kusoro St., Agege, are standing trial for conspiracy and stealing.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge, and were each granted bail by Magistrate O. A. Ogunsanya in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties..
According to the prosecutor, ASP Augustine Onwuemene, the duo committed the offences on May 12 at No. 1B Reeve Road, Ikoyi.
He said that the defendants stole a Power Holding Company of Nigeria transformer installed at a branch of the Access Bank Plc, where the defendants worked.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 285 (5) and 409 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.
The case has been adjourned till June 14 for further hearing.
