Gombe State Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has approved the implementation of new salary structure for doctors, with the aim of attaining? an efficient health care system for the citizens of the state.
Dankwambo disclosed this during the flag-off of the Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week in Dadin-Kowa, Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Arae of the state.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Mr. Tha’anda Rubainu, said more doctors, nurses and pharmacists would soon be recruited.
According to him, more hospitals will be built, including a new Women and Child Hospital, to reduce the infant and maternal mortality in the state.
He further pledged to ensure that all the health institutions in the state met the desired by accreditation bodies.
Dankwambo further called on the religious, community leaders and individuals to to contribute meaningfully toward the success of the exercise.
Commissioner for Health, Mr. Kennedy Ishaya, said that during the exercise the routine antigens would target the children missed in 2011 and those due for vaccination from January to May in 2012, adding that the exercise is for children from 0-59 months.?
