Vice-President Namadi Sambo?on Saturday said that the death of Sheikh Mudi Salga was?a great loss to the country, in view of his enormous contribution to the propagation of Islam.
Sambo said this in Kano on Saturday when he paid a condolence visit to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, over Salga’s death.
Salga died in his residence in Kano on Friday after a brief illness.
Responding, the emir thanked Sambo for the condolence visit.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the vice-president earlier attended the funeral prayers organised for the late Salga at the Sheikh Isiyaka Rabi’u Mosque.
The prayer session, led by Sheikh Sama’ila Kalifa, was also attended by Gov. Rabi’u Kwankwaso of KanoState, along with the governors of Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi states.
The prayer gathering was also attended by the Emir of Kano, the Minister of Defence, Dr Bello Mohammed, the Minister of Transport, Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman, and the PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.
Some members of the National Assembly and other top government officials are part of the dignitaries who attended the prayer session.
NAN also reports that the vice-president also attended the wedding “Fathia’’ of two younger sisters of his wife, Hadiza and Zainab Abdullahi, before returning to Abuja. (NAN)
