The Super Falcons arrived Harare on Friday for the African Women’s Championship qualifying game against The Mighty Warriors of Zimbabwe, and received unrivalled hospitality from the Nigerian High Commission in Zimbabwe.
The High Commission officials were at the airport to receive the delegation, and they were also on ground to ensure the Falcons’ movement from the Harare International Airport to their Crest Lodge base in Masasa was seamless.
The embassy also stationed officials at the Falcons’ hotel to ensure that all the delegates were adequately attended to and settled in.
Dinner was a truly Nigerian affair as the High Commission prepared Nigerian dishes, to the delight of the players and officials.
There was egusi soup prepared the Nigerian way with bitter-leaf, and ogbono soup served with semovita.?
“I was very excited and happy that the embassy made us feel at home especially with the dishes they served us. We are very happy with them”
Also commenting on the royal treatment given to the team was the General Coordinator of the Women National Teams, Aisha Falode, who expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Nigerian High Commission in Zimbabwe, saying the Falcons will make the High Commission officials proud by winning the match against Zimbabwe.
“They have given us everything that we need to succeed on Sunday. They have also mobilized the Nigerians who have a sizeable number here in Harare to come to the stadium and the only way we can show appreciation is to win the match, and that is a promise”
