Gov. Aliyu Wamakko of? Sokoto State has challenged Nigerians to ensure a sustainable security , describing the responsibility as a collective one .
The News ?Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports that? Wamakko spoke?in Sokoto at a dinner organised by the state government in honour of the newly appointed Minister of Youths Development?Inuwa Abdulkadir .
A statement signed by Abubakar Dangusau , Director of Press Affairs , Government House , Sokoto, issued ?in Sokoto on Sunday ?quoted Wamakko as expressing hope that?Nigeria would soon overcome all its security challenges .
The governor recalled that?the nation which had fought a deadly thirty –month civil war and overcame it , would also overcome? her present challenges .
‘’ In spite of these myriad of challenges , Nigeria is now more united and the obnoxious situation will soon be history .
‘’ The three tiers of government and all the stakeholders are not relenting in their efforts to ensure the prevalence of peace , unity and security ,’’ he noted .
Wamakko, however, said all Nigerians were equal stakeholders in ensuring the sustenance of peace , security and unity and not only the security agencies or the government .
The governor described the new minister as a loyal ?, dedicated technocrat whose penchant for honesty , justice , equity and fair play were unparalleled .
‘’ We knew each other since 1986 and since then , I have known him to be pious and dedicated and a seasoned legal practitioner .
‘’ His choice by the President and subsequent clearance by the Senate does not come to us ?as a surprise in anyway ,’’ Wamakko added.
He urged Abdulkadir to be absolutely loyal to the President and Nigerians , saying , ‘’ this should not in any way be shaken .’’
The Minister of Youths Development , who was ?the immediate past Justice Commissioner in Sokoto State, commended the people and government of? the state for reposing tremendous confidence in him.
‘’ I will be a good Ambassador for the people and the government of the state as well as be loyal to the President and I will never fail Nigerians ,’’ he vowed .( NAN)
