Sen. Walid Jubril, the PDP Board of Trustee (BOT) Secretary, says campaign for the country's president in 2015 “is too early and diversionary.’’
He told newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja that Nigerians would determine the country`s president in 2015.
“Talking about 2015 is a diversionary tactics, it is the people of Nigeria that would decide who rules them. Let us wait for time because it is just one year now; if Jonathan does well then Nigerians would re-elect him.
“People should be careful? in what they say with regards to 2015 election because it is diversionary especially when we have so many issues to tackle,’’ Jubril said.
He also said that the party was taking its time to replace former President Olusegun Obasanjo who resigned his appointment as the party`s BOT chairman in April.
Jubril said that consultation on the issue was ongoing, adding that an election would be held to elect a new BOT chairman at the appropriate time.
He commended Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, the party`s National Chairman for inaugurating a 50- man advisory committee to assist him in repositioning the party.
Jubril said the committee which was purely advisory would not conflict with the party`s National Working Committee (NWC) or the BOT.
“The body is purely an advisory committee set up by the chairman, there is no conflict whatsoever between it and the party`s BOT.”? (NAN)
