Following media reports that he canvassed votes for incumbent Edo Governor Adams Oshiomhole, former Governor of Edo State, Professor Oserheimen Osunbor, has refuted some of the comments ascribed to him, just as he maintained that the performance of Oshiomhole and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Maj.-Gen. Charles Airhiavbere would speak for them at the July 14 governorship election.
Osunbor, a PDP stalwart, in an online email copied to LEADERSHIP, stated: “As rightly reported, the purpose of my interaction with members of my community, Iruekpen, was to thank them for all their support and contributions to my political career.
It was not a political rally as those who attended the event cut across all the major political parties just as they have always given me trans-party support over the years. Some of the remarks ascribed to me in the report were obviously inaccurate.
“I do not have any need to canvass votes for Oshiomhole. His performance is speaking for him just as the performance of my party’s candidate is speaking for him. Based on the candidate’s performance, the people of Edo State will elect their governor on July 14, 2012.”
