The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has condemned the bomb explosion at a church in Bauchi which resulted in the loss of many lives with several others injured.
The Forum made its position known in a communiqué signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Anthony Sani, at the end of the National Working Committee meeting chaired by its Chairman Alhaji Aliko Mohammed.
“It is the considered view of ACF that however strong the feelings of perceived injustice or grievances, they cannot be the justification for killing of innocent people. Consequently, the forum called on the perpetrators of bomb explosions in some parts of the country to accept the offer of constructive engagement with the federal government as the only viable path to peaceful coexistence and national security”.
In the same vein, ACF has also condemned the communal clashes between the people of Alago and Eggon ethnic extractions on the issues that could easily be resolved through dialogue and due process of law.
ACF while condoling the people and government of Nasarawa State over the avoidable losses and untold hardship, urged the feuding communities to embrace constructive dialogue and due process of law as veritable ways of addressing concerns.
ACF also considered the current efforts by the National Assembly to amend the CBN Act with a clear view to watering down the independence and the powers of the Central Bank, and noted that “any attempt to drag the CBN into controversies of politics is capable of compromising its capacity to take short term decisions and actions as well as long term view of monetary policies”.
Against this backdrop, ACF has called on the National Assembly to reconsider its positions and drop the idea of amending the CBN Act.
