Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ade Ipaye, yesterday announced that a total number of 149 bodies had been evacuated from the Dana air plane crash of Sunday with 52 identifiable bodies and 97 unidentifiable ones.
Ipaye who made this known at a World Press Conference at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) to address concerns about the aftermath of the crash said that the 52 identifiable bodies had been taken to the mortuary at LASUTH while 97 unidentifiable ones were at the Mainland Hospital, Yaba.
“The whole area has been totally evacuated of victims and we have a total of 149 bodies at the moment both identifiable and unidentifiable,” he said.
He explained that though the official number of passengers said to be on the flight was 153, it was difficult to get an exact number of dead bodies in such a disaster. He added that the complete bodies which were evacuated totaled 149 and that some parts of the bodies might not be complete.
“It is very difficult to be exact about the number of bodies in such a disaster. The ones we are clear on are the 52 identifiable ones and there might be some that are not intact,” Ipaye said.
