The Peoples` Democratic Party (PDP) has called on security agencies and election observers to proffer ways of ensuring that the forthcoming governorship election in Edo was peaceful and transparent.
Mr Olosa Metuh, the party`s National Publicity Secretary made the call in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja.
It said the observers and security men have a responsibility to ensure that the lives and properties of the people were protected during the elections slated for July 14.
The statement decried what it called ACN's violent tendencies and advised politicians in the state against fanning embers of violence and chaos.
It stated: “the PDP was particularly dismayed by the threats that Edo state would burn if ACN does not win the election.
“This is not what the good people of Edo State deserve at this critical time when they are yearning for a change that would restore their state to its lost glory and pride among other states in the country.''
It quoted Metuh as calling on Nigerians to reject violence and assured that the PDP would continue to promote peace and fairness in the conduct of elections.
He also urged the people of the state to ignore any threat and to feel free to choose the best candidate during the polls.? (NAN)
