For allegedly shortchanging their customers, two petrol stations in Lokoja metropolis were yesterday sealed off by the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment.
The service stations sealed off were Biodu and Associates along Phase 1 in the state capital and the NNPC Mega Station along Ganaja road.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the exercise, the state director of SON, Samson Makolo, said that they decided to shut the stations as they were cheating their customers.
He added that they bought a full tank of fuel at the cost of N8,550 instead of N7, 550 at the approved price of N97 per litre, if the fuel pump was not adjusted to under-dispense the commodity.
It was based on this development, according him, that made them lodge a complaint with the Weight and Measure Department of the Federal? Ministry of Trade and Investment in the state.
According to him, upon using their equpment to carry out the measurement, the officials from ministry proved the allegation.
He said that the stations were sealed after the test showed that the quantity of petrol sold to customers at N97 was not up to a litre, pointing out that in the two stations closed down, the quantity of fuel dispensed varied from one pump to the other..
