The Kano State government, in partnership with a German company, Helios Energie, has concluded arrangement to build two plants of combined 60 megawatts of electricity to be powered by solar energy to generate electricity for the use of Kano State.
This was disclosed by the Secretary to the Kano State Government, Alhaji Rabiu Suleman Bichi, at the State Governor’s Lodge Abuja, shortly after signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the partner firm on behalf of the State Government.
According to Bichi, the arrangement was formalised under Nigeria Energy Partnership with Germany which identified Kano State as one of the beneficiaries.
While the company will mobilise foreign direct investment, both parties will mobilise funds to execute the multi-billion naira project which is expected to be completed within the next 24 months. The total cost of the project is put at 126 million Euros for the two power plants.
