The Police on Friday arraigned a 38-year-old automobile mechanic, Adeoye Saka, before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos over alleged theft of a Primera car worth N1.3 million.
Saka,who resides at Isolo Area of Lagos, is standing trial on one count charge of stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Philip Osijale told the court that the accused stole a 2003 model Primera car with chassis No. 141729 valued at N1.3 million belonging to one Mr Bashiru Matti.
Osijale said that the defendant committed the offence between June 9 and 20 at Phase 4, Block 86, Flat 2, Adeniji Adele Housing Estate, Lagos Island.
He said that the defendant who is an automobile mechanic was given the car “on trust’’ for sell on behalf of the complainant.
He explained that the accused did not return the car or the money to the owner.
The prosecutor said that the alleged offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
Magistrate F. O. Aigbokhaevbo granted the defendant N500, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till July 28 for further hearing. (NAN)
