Niger State police command has arrested members of a seven-man robbery gang who have been terrorising the state and neighbouring ones, while five others were arrested with N2.7m counterfeit naira notes .
LEADERSHIP WEEKEND gathered that the gang which is specialised in using master keys to steal cars had 10 of it stolen from different locations in Niger, Kaduna and Kano states, including the FCT, Abuja.
The Niger State commissioner of police, Mrs Desire Nsirim, who confirmed the arrest gave the names of the suspects as Musa Mohammed, Jibrin Musa, Dabo Abubakar (aka Mobile), Danlami Musa, Alhaji RabiuUsman, Tsalla Isa and Mohammed Makeri .
Meanwhile, the command has also nabbed five people for being in possession of counterfeit naira notes estimated at N2,750,000.00.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Niger State Police Command, Mr. Pius Edobor, in a statement yesterday in Minna, stated that sometimes this month, some concerned citizens tipped off the Police about the criminal activities of the suspects which led to the arrest of one? Hussaini Mohammed in one of the Niger State low cost Housing units, at Kontagora local government area of the state.
He added that further investigation led to the arrest of four other accomplice – Mohammed Sani , Musa Adua, Isah Aliyu and Haladu Magaji the arrow head? all of Kontagora .
