The search for the next ‘Miss Ambassador For Peace’ has begun,.The event is slated for September.
In a special press briefing with selected media houses (LEADERSHIP inclusive), the organisers of Miss Ambassador For Peace Beauty Pageant, Fashion Cabaret and National Peace Award, 2012, have promised that it will not be business as usual.
The project director and publisher of Alphaplus Magazine, Ambassador Kingsley Amafibe told journalists, that the event would be different from the previous ones witnessed by Nigerians. He said this was necessary as Miss Ambassador For Peace is meant to foster peace and unity.
“We want to use this event to promote peace. If our government had put in much in the past to encourage our youths at the grass roots, we would not have gotten to this stage of violence.
What we are trying to do is to get back to the basics and educate our youths on how to stay away from violence and embrace peace in the primary and, secondary schools as well as the Universities level.”
He also said that the National Peace Award is one of the organisations that have contributed immensely to the development of peace in the country.
A lot of questions were asked on why the continuous fashion shows in the country with no tangible results to show for it. The response of the organisers was direct and to the point.
?“This is not the usual event where people come to wear bikini and flaunt hips, it is all about intellectuals, and if you have nothing to offer… do not bother to purchase the form because you could be embarrassed. There are people who think they are not fashionable, but have something to deliver.
However, June Christopher, who is in charge of grooming contestants emphasised that there are a lot of things awaiting the winner.
‘The participants should not think they are coming to enjoy in this competition. Anyone who is not ready to work hard will not even cross to the final stage. We need someone who can represent Nigeria outside the shores of the country; someone who can command respect and attention when speaking we need someone who is sound, mentally balanced and at the same time in charge of issues.”
The organisers promised a worthwhile event, adding that the eventual winner would go home with a car branded with ‘Miss Ambassador For Peace’ number plate and also have the opportunity to contest in the Miss world Ambassador For Peace in Canada.
