The federal government, yesterday, arraigned two al-qaeda suspects before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja for allegedly aiding and abetting terrorist activities in the country.
The two accused persons Olaniyi Lawal and Lukman Babatunde both pleaded not guilty to the six-count charge preferred against them by the State Security Service (SSS).
The SSS alleged that the first accused person Olaniyi Lawal, 31 age received monies in Saudi Riyadh and in US Dollars? equivalent to one N1 million from a terrorist organisation known as Al- qaeda in May 2011 to recruit and transport new members to Yemen for combat training in terrorism.
The security operatives also maintained that Lawal alongside the second accused Babatunde? 30 allegedly convened a meeting in June 2011 to further the objective? of the proscribed organisation.
The SSS also alleged in the charge sheet that the second accused person provided facilities and logistics for the meeting.
The offence, the security operatives said contravened the provisions of Terrorism and Prevention Act 2011.
While Justice Gladys Olotu ordered them to be remanded in Kuje prison, and adjourned to October 2 and 3 to hear their bail applications.
