The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone One, Kano, Mr Ibrahim Leha, has urged traditional rulers in the country to join hands with the police in crime prevention and control.
Leha made the appeal on Monday in Katsina when he paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir, in his palace.
He said that the call had become necessary in recognition of their position in the society as fathers in their domains.
“Police work has become a challenge with emergence of terrorism, hence the need to change our tactics to address the situation through the support of the traditional institutions and the general public,’’ he said.??
Responding, the emir urged the Federal Government to provide security agents with modern equipment to combat crime in all the nooks and crannies of the country.
Kabir also urged political officer holders to be honest and ensure justice in running the affairs of the people.
He also urged Nigerians to live in peace, respect religious beliefs of one another and continue to pray to God to grant the nation peace and stability.
