Following the damage done to its equipment by a truck load of equipment, regular power supply may be hampered Lagos State as the incident has cut off transmission to some parts of the state.
Confirming the incident, the Manager, Public Affairs, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Lagos region, Mrs. Celestina Osin, said the incident happened in the early hours of Saturday when truck carrying tall equipment crashed into an 11KV distribution pole at the junction of the new Oko-Oba Road in Abule- Egba, area of Lagos.
According to her, “The incident affected the Otta-Ogba 132KV transmission line, cutting and rupturing the cross arm of? transmission tower located at Abule -Taylor which is about 2.5KM from the where the incident occurred.”
?She explained that a team of TCN engineers had already been mobilised to the site to commence repair works, which will last for weeks.
According to her, “the repairs would cost some millions of naira as the damaged cross arm on the tower will be repaired and five? spans of aluminium conductor (line) will be replaced from transmission tower 16 to transmission tower 19 and the aluminium conductor that sagged on transmission towers 19 to 21 will be retensioned properly.”
