President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday held a closed-door meeting with security chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that there was no official briefing after the meeting which lasted for about three hours.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshall Oluseyi Petinrin and the National Security Adviser, retired Col. Sambo Dasuki, declined comments after the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Vice President Namadi Sambo, the Minister of State for Defence, Erelu Olusola Obada; the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika; the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice-Admiral Ola Ibrahim and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Mohammed Umar.
The meeting was also attended by the Ministers of Police Affairs, Caleb Olubolade and Interior, Mr Abba Moro; the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr Muhammed Abubakar and the Director-General, State Security Service, Mr Ita Ekpenyong.?
NAN reports that the meeting came a day after the violence in parts of Plateau on Saturday and Sunday.
