After serious pressure and?persuasions?from the Nigerian community in Cape Town, the South African Police authorities have finally released the corpse of the slain Nigerian drug baron, Mr. Kenneth Odera, who was shot dead in Cape Town by his associates two weeks ago.
?
LEADERSHIP gathered that the corpse was released to his friends by the officials of the government mortuary in the region under that directive of the Police authorities in South Africa.
?
Mr. Chima Okorie, the leader of the delegation that received the corpse at the mortuary on Monday evening, said that it took the intervention of the Nigerian officials in South Africa before the police accepted to release the corpse for burial.
?
He added that they had, last week gone to meet with the police in Cape Town where they demanded the remains of the deceased but the Police turned down the request, saying that they still wanted to investigate the circumstances surrounding his killing by those they suspected to be his associates in the illegal drug business.
?
Mr. Okorie pressed further that it was when it became clear to them that the corpse would not be released to them easily that they made an official complaint to the Nigerian authority in Johannesburg.
?
However, friends to the late Kenneth Odera have confirmed that the corpse of the deceased will be taken to Nigeria from South Africa for proper burial before the end of the week.
?
They also organised a christian wake-keep at Phoenix Tavern, Milnerton Cape Town in honour of the deceased on Monday night.

?
While briefing on how the incident happened, Peter, a close friend to the late Odera Kenneth, claimed that the deceased was invited by the assassins who he said are Brazillians to come and supply them hard drugs as he normally did. ?
?
Peter, a security officer at Phoenix Tavern in Cape Town, added that: “I was with the him inside his blue colour Corsa car when his friends called him on his mobile phone and asked him to come and supply them hard drug which they normally call Tik here” ?
“When we got to the appointed place where they were to transact the business, the assassins who are Brazillian gangsters, shot him inside the car twice on the neck and when he managed to get down, trying to run away with the bullet wounds, one of his killers who was wearing a mask ran after him and shot him four times” ?
?
“They later came to where his car was parked and took away the hard drugs he was bringing for them. They also told me clearly that they shot him just because he sold fake drugs to them some days back and he refused to refund their money”
