Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested four suspects in connection with the murder of a retired army officer, Brigadier-General Sylvester Iruh.
General Iruh’s corpse was discovered lying in a pool of his blood at a bridge very close to the popular Berger bus stop along Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Sunday after he was robbed by some hoodlums.
The slain army officer was said to be returning from a burial ceremony of a church member when his car had a flat tyre at about 7pm. His decision to change it cost him his life as he was subsequently attacked by the hoodlums.
When contacted, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, in a telephone chat with LEADERSHIP, gave the names of the suspects as Alamin Grema, Mustapha Musa, Yahya Amodu and Cube Morris.
Adejobi said the four are currently helping his command’s investigation efforts, and that they are currently being detained at the state Police Headquarters, Eleweran in Abeokuta,
According him, “Four persons arrested in connection with the robbery and murder are helping us in our investigation. They are being detained at Eleweran, Abeokuta. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.”
He disclosed that the state police Commissioner, Mr. Okoye Ikemefuna, had ordered 24-hour patrol and surveillance of the area which, he stated, had been designated as a black spot.
